Ukraine received from the United States more than a dozen long-range howitzers out of the promised 90. The military has already learned how to shoot them and is successfully using them against the invaders.
The New York Times published a report on how American M777 howitzers are used on the front line in Ukraine. The journalists visited the 55th artillery brigade, which was the first to use these guns at the front.

Ukrainian officers say they received about a dozen howitzers two weeks ago and fired 1,876 rounds by Sunday.

American howitzers are massive machines of steel and titanium wrapped in hydraulic hoses and mounted on four struts that fold up and down.

“This weapon brings us closer to victory,” Colonel Roman Kachur, commander of the 55th artillery brigade, part of which first used the weapon, said in an interview. Blending confidence with an implicit call for more weapons, he added: “With every modern weapon, every precision weapon, we are getting closer to victory.”

During this time, Ukrainian artillerymen destroyed at least three Russian armored vehicles and several dozen soldiers with different types of shells.

True, the publication makes a reservation here: “how close it is, remains unclear.”

“Artillery is very much about numbers. The Russians are one of the largest artillery armies you can face,” Michael Kofman, director of Russian studies at the C.N.A. in Arlington.

Military analysts say the weapon’s full effect won’t be felt for at least another two weeks because Ukraine has yet to train enough soldiers to fire all 90 such howitzers promised by the United States and other allies.

Recall that US clinics will continue to accept Ukrainians for treatment who have received significant body burns due to the war.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on ensuring global food security.
