Mainly dedicated to rugby, the training and performance center set up on the Polo site, which will also welcome other high-level athletes, will be its flagship equipment.

Biarritz a sports city

The study on sports practices and infrastructures in Biarritz requested by the Municipality has been unveiled and demonstrates the preponderant place of sport in the city, which is definitely inseparable from its identity.

Professional sport and high level are also widely represented in Biarritz with no less than 71 athletes divided into 9 different disciplines and devolved structures such as the Pôle France de Surf, the Center de Formation de Rugby, the Club de Rugby PRO or even the Basque Sport Academy.

On the strength of this observation, the City wishes to engage in a real sports development policy oriented towards the rehabilitation and upgrading of existing facilities for daily sport and health sport; and the rehabilitation of existing equipment or the creation of new equipment adapted to the expectations of today’s sport and its future developments, but also for professional sport and the High Level, whether it is sports equipment, hospitality, services, accommodation, catering, which can also be done in partnership with local economic players.

The sports associations and the various clubs were asked about their relationship to these structures, the usefulness of renovating some of them, making them more compliant with usage.

A polo training and performance center
As part of this new sports policy, the idea of a training center and high-level sports performance has become obvious, as has its location, the Hippodrome des Fleurs.

Indeed, this site reasons by its central position in the diagram of the various Biarrotes installations, from the gymnasium of the Negress to the sports platform of Aguilera, and offers the most advantageous surface to develop it.
In addition, it is located in the heart of the Saint-Martin district, which, with the installation of the Connector, the urban developments carried out as well as the proximity of Lake Marion and its protected natural areas, offers a privileged and easily accessible living environment.

In accordance with the commitments of the municipal team, this training and performance center will be carried out under public contracting authority, in consultation with local residents, sports clubs and also with sports federations in order to obtain a tool that meets their expectations. .

After an initial phase of studies, work will begin in mid-2023 and will continue until 2024, with delivery scheduled for December 2024.

This center is part of a sports policy focused on excellence, in addition to community sport and sport for all.
It will be able to accommodate preparation courses for professional teams, regional or national selections, as well as our clubs, whose licensees, young and old, will in fact be able to access these high-level facilities.
Finally, it will obviously be the natural setting for the BO Rugby training center.

With Aguilera, the Polo site thus becomes the new heart of sporting activity in Biarritz.

Renovation of the Aguilera Stadium

Aguilera obviously retains its sporting essence and its emblematic clubs which fully contribute to the life of the future district.
