In the wake of Nissan on the track of electrification, Nismo will also offer new electric sports cars in the future.
A contraction of Nissan Motorsport, Nismo is the in-house department responsible for preparing cars for competition. But it is also the branch that takes care of energizing the series models in sporty chic (Juke Nismo) or shock (GT-R Nismo). With a slew of electrics coming to the lineup, Nismo will follow suit.
Nismo, an electric brand from Nissan?
During the Monaco e-Prix, Guillaume Cartier, president of Nissan Europe, indicated that the brand’s electric cars will have derivatives from the Nismo department. Nothing very surprising, especially for a brand that favors Formula E to promote the Nissan Zero Emission.

Nissan GT-R (X) 2050: a single-seater electric sports car
Questioned at length about the Nissan Z and GT-R on the edge of the Monaco circuit, the leaders of the brand indicated that there will be ” a drastic change at some point”. No need to be a guesser to know if the future of the GT-R will be electric: because if it continues to exist (which should be the case, Nissan speaking above all of the brand’s DNA rather than of a sporty image), it will have no choice but to retire its turbos. On the other hand, it takes gifts of clairvoyance to know when, Nissan spokespersons splitting a mysterious and painful “one-day”…
Remember that Nissan and Nismo have already tried the adventure of the electrified sports car with the new Aura e-Powerbut also Leaf Nismo. Only available in the Japanese catalog, the electric compact comes with a specific body kit and a chassis retouched by Omori Factory engineers. However, the mechanical and electrical part remains unchanged.
