We knew the weekend was going to be hot, and Meteo France drove the point home this afternoon by activating a red vigilance for 12 departments. Again temperature records are expected on Friday and Saturday. The 40 degrees could be reached or even exceeded in this large South-West quarter.

This vigilance allows prefects of the 12 departments concerned to put in place restrictions. So they can decide toprohibit certain large events such as sporting events or festivals. But they can also ask nurseries, leisure centers or holiday organizations tocancel outings, parties or sporting activities. Some establishments may even be completely closed if the temperature in their premises is too high.

0 primary schools had closed and the school trips were canceled. the college diploma had even been postponed of a few days. the Ministry of Labour indicated on Thursday that the school children and the college students will be able stay home tomorrow, in the departments in red vigilance.
