Designed by German architect Albert Speer Jr., this modern structure has a capacity of 80,000 spectators. The stadium has a cooling system due to the high temperatures, which usually reach 50 degrees Celsius in summer. Its roof is painted silver and solar panels generate electricity for the sports arena and its surroundings.
In addition to being used during the World Cup, the Lusail stadium will become a center of attraction for people thanks to schools, shops, cafeterias, sports facilities and health centers.
During his visit, the Bolivarian leader put his signature on the flying ball, the official ball of the World Cup.
Maduro also visited the facilities of the Aspire Academy, which trains top athletes, and the Aspertar Hospital for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, which is one of the most important centers for the treatment and sports injury rehabilitation.
The Venezuelan president’s visit to Qatar is the fifth leg of an international tour that began June 7 and included Turkey, Algeria, Iran and Kuwait.
Thanks to the efforts of Bolivarian diplomacy, Qatar and Venezuela, which have maintained diplomatic relations since 1973, will deepen their economic, political and cultural relations through international cooperation agreements.
