ORAN – The representatives of the various press agencies of the Mediterranean expressed Tuesday in Oran their admiration for the sports infrastructures carried out in the wilaya in anticipation of the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games (JM) scheduled for this summer.

The guests of the western capital were treated to a tour of the new sports complex of Oran and the Mediterranean village, and this, at the end of the work of the seminar organized by the Press Service Agency (APS) in coordination with the Alliance of Mediterranean Press Agencies (AMAN), with the theme ”the role of regional press agencies in the development of sport in the Mediterranean basin”.

At the level of the Olympic complex located in the town of Bir El Djir (East of Oran), the AMAN delegation had to visit the various structures of this important work, including the 40,000-seat football stadium which is preparing to host, among other things, the opening ceremony of the World Youth Day scheduled for June 25.

The 4,200-seat athletics stadium and the Nautical Center which includes three swimming pools, including two Olympic ones, were also visited by ANAM representatives.

Not far from the new Olympic complex, which also has a 6,000-seat sports hall, the hosts of Algeria took a tour of the side of the Mediterranean village, the place of accommodation for more than 3,400 athletes and their companions who will start to parade on Oran from June 20th.

On site, those present took the opportunity to attend, at the invitation of the JM commissioner, Mohamed Aziz Derouaz, part of a demonstration falling within the framework of the preparations for the opening ceremony in a good-natured atmosphere.

“Frankly, from all that we have seen in these sports facilities, everything is ready for Algeria to host the next edition of the World Games in the best conditions. It is clear that the Algerian State has deployed enormous efforts to achieve these large-scale facilities,” MENA agency editor-in-chief Tarek Abdelghaffar told APS.

Same story with Adrian Hubert, of the Spanish press agency (EFE). The latter, who has a rich experience in the sports field having covered several tournaments of the Olympic Games and the Mediterranean Games, was full of praise for the sports equipment he had the opportunity to discover, believing that they all met the standards.

He continued that the sports complex of Oran has all the assets to host international competitions in the future.
