TANGIER, 13th June, 2022 (WAM) — The Secretary General of the Council of Muslim Elders, Justice Mohamed Abdelsalam, has called on all sectors of society to spread the human values ​​contained in the Document on Human Fraternity during his speech at ‘ Religious Debate of Tangier’ in the Kingdom of Morocco.

In his speech, Abdelsalam called on universities, museums, cinemas, theaters, sports institutions and the media to use appropriate and humane language, since the Document on Human Fraternity addresses all facets of society. , including politicians, policy makers, intellectuals and artists, to bridge the gap between communities around the world. He also called for stronger multilateral work in politics, diplomacy, culture, education and at the grassroots level to highlight our common human values ​​and create a global cultural movement that can inspire the future generations.

Abdelsalam added: “We need to inculcate the values ​​of dialogue and human fraternity in schools and in the younger generations around the world. This is something we have seen done in the United Arab Emirates, the Vatican, East Timor as well as ‘at Al Azhar and Georgetown University. I believe that every individual and every organization in the world can play a positive role in building bridges of communication, peace and coexistence between societies. We must seek to achieve a culture of encounter where our cultural differences complement each other rather than being a reason for conflict.”

The Secretary-General concluded: “The Youth Human Fraternity Council, which was established in partnership with the European Union and the Federal Youth Authority of the United Arab Emirates, organizes a number of meetings for young people in around the world to enable them to communicate with each other and strengthen international relations. This goes hand in hand with the extensive cooperation established with international institutions such as the United Nations, FIFA, the Arigatou International Foundation as well as research centers in plus ministries of culture in Germany and Azerbaijan.The Muslim Council of Elders, in cooperation with Georgetown University, is also set to host a youth conference on human brotherhood next September, with 75 participants from the East and from West.”

The Secretary General of the Council of Muslim Elders is currently participating in the “Tangier Religious Debate”, in the Kingdom of Morocco, which brings together various government representatives, religious leaders and diplomats from around the world. The event is placed under the patronage of Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as Miguel Ángel Moratinos, United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations and the Aladdin Center for the Fight against Extremism.
