Honda has just announced, via a teaser, the arrival of two new 100% electric sports cars. Could this be the return of the NSX, but with a 100% electric motorization?
Honda may not be the most active manufacturer in terms of new products, but the brand is still working hard on the electrification of its range.
Admittedly, its range of electric and hybrid models is not as extensive as some other Japanese or German manufacturers, but Honda has an electrification strategy that should allow it to sustain its automotive activities.
Two sports on the program at Honda
The brand has also given some clues about its electric future, with in particular a rather interesting teaser which shows two electric sports cars who will soon join the range. This “formalization” is accompanied by a visible visual in the cover image of this article.
Obviously, Honda gave no indication concerning these two models, we can only rely on the silhouette of the two models present under the sheets. The model on the left of the photo looks like some sort of GT with two doors, while the one on the right looks suspiciously like some sort of successor to the Honda NSX. At least in form.
Although the Honda NSX has not been sold here for a while, it is still marketed in certain regions of Asia and in the United States (under the name Acura NSX). But she should be retiring soon, and its replacement could become 100% electric. At least that’s what the vice-president and head of the brand in the USA, Jon Ikeda, suggested.
30 new electric models by 2030
Apart from these two models, Honda also gave some clues about its strategy for its three main markets: North America, China and Japan.
In North America, Honda will introduce two electric vehicles in 2024, currently jointly developed with General Motors. In China, Honda will present a total of ten new models by 2027. In Japan, the brand will offer a small electric vehicle for commercial use by the beginning of 2024, then small models for individuals thereafter as well as several SUVs. In total, Honda plans to unveil 30 electric models worldwide by 2030.
