Since last year, Albert Schweitzer College keeps reinventing itself, with in particular the setting up of “Jobs Tuesday” where professionals come to present their jobs. And for the next school year, new projects are being rolled out. The principal of the college, Salina Hémani, decided to launch in September five equipped sports classes.
Students who have passed preliminary tests, and after a review of their academic record, will be able to participate in football, handball, tennis, gymnastics or athletics training (no preliminary tests), under the supervision of the clubs riorgeois. One day a week, during lunch time, and another day from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the coaches of the respective clubs will pick up the students to bring them either to the Léo-Lagrange hall or to the Gallieni sports complex. Only football is reserved for levels of 6e and 5e the other sports concern all levels.
Not just sports…
An educational assistant and a teacher will propose an additional hour of “homework done” in order to make up for any delay in homework.
A “language discovery” option will also be offered for the 6e . During their first year, new college students will be able to one trimester of Chinese, the second of spanish and finally finish with Italian. A last option, entitled “Language and Culture of Antiquity”, is on the program. It aims to practice vocabulary and spelling. “Our desire is to make students responsible and masters of their careers”, says the principal of the establishment.
