The Charente is placed from Friday June 17, 2 p.m. in red vigilance by Météo-France.
Since Thursday, June 16 at noon and until the end of the heat wave episodethe green number Heat wave info service on 0800 06 66 66 is activated. It can be reached from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (free call from a landline in mainland France).
Prohibition measures:
The prefect decided in particular to take prohibition measures:
- festive, sporting and cultural events in the open air and in covered or closed and non-air-conditioned sports structures:
- from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2022;
- from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. the following days.
This prohibition applies until the end of red vigilance.
- firing of fireworks or festive fires (Saint-Jean), until Monday, June 20, 2022 in the morning.
The prefect recalls that this heat wave phenomenon, unprecedented in the department, requires particular vigilance, due to its precocity and intensity.
Schools and colleges:
For now, there is no decision to close schools and collegeshowever parents who wish and are able to do so will be able to keep their children at home on Friday, June 17, 2022.
Only low intensity physical activities are allowed.
Reminder of the good reflexes to adopt in the event of a heat wave:
– Drink water regularly and stay cool;
– Do not drink alcohol;
– Avoid exertion, especially during the hottest hours of the day;
– Remain extremely vigilant when swimming to avoid the risk of drowning;
– Spend several hours a day in a cool place;
– Refresh your home;
– Eat enough;
– Give and take news of loved ones;
– In case of emergency or if you feel unwell, call 15.
