CAN 2023, de bonnes nouvelles pour le stade de Korhogo

Another good news in the preparations for the organization of the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2023) in Côte d’Ivoire. After the final approval of the Yamoussoukro stadium, the installation of the seats is only a matter of days in Korhogo.

Things are accelerating on the site in order to deliver the sports infrastructure on time. After the start of the laying of the oblique roofing of the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium (AGC) of Korhogo in May 2022, these are the seats that will soon be installed there if not already in progress. Since the beginning of June, the seats have been received.

It is also noted in the work in progress in this stadium of Korhogo, the installation of false ceilings in the rooms of zone B and the installation of maintenance plots.

With a capacity of 20,000 covered spaces and 2,000 parking spaces, this infrastructure is equipped with a hybrid lawn. Not far away, a CAN city with 32 villas and a 3-star hotel with 50 rooms have also been installed. 4 training grounds are also set up. These infrastructures have a total cost of 50.02 billion FCFA.

In order to soak up theprogress of work, the Minister of Sports and the Sports Economy, Danho Paulin Claude, paid a visit to the construction site of this stadium in May. Facing the press on March 31, 2022, the director general of the National Sports Office (ONS), Koné Mariam Yoda, announced 64% as the progress rate for the work on the Korhogo stadium. She had also given the assurance that all sports infrastructure related to CAN 2023 would be delivered 6 months before the competition.

The AGC stadium in Korhogo is one of the six stadiums that will host the matches of the AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast. Two in Abidjan (Alassane Ouattara stadium in Ebimpé and the Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium still under construction), the Yamoussoukro stadium and the Bouaké stadium in the center of the country and the San Pedro stadium in the far south-west of Côte d’Ivoire.

Construction work on this stadium located in the north of the country was officially launched on May 18, 2019, by Issa Coulibaly, then Minister of Public Service.
