BMW M announces four new sporty vehicles, a commemorative logo and exclusive options for its 50th anniversary in 2022.
Founded in 1972, BMW M will be 50 years old in 2022, and it is the customers of BMW’s Motorsport department who will be spoiled for this anniversary as the brand’s sports division announces an avalanche of novelties for next year. It starts with a commemorative BMW logo circled in white, red, blue and purple, which will be offered as an option on BMW M models produced from next March. This emblem is inspired by a BMW Motorsport logo dating back to 1973. Over the years, the arcs of circles have been replaced by lines and purple by dark blue to give rise to the current graphic. 50 historic body colors will also be reintroduced in the M range for the occasion.
4 new BMW M in 2022
BMW confirms the launch of the first M3 Touring standard for 2022. The Bavarian manufacturer also announces the arrival of a muscular variant of the M4 Coupe, seen on trial multiple times. This one should be badged CS or even CSL but it will be necessary to wait a little to know more. The brand finally formalizes the renewal of the M2 and says the next generation of its smaller model is “already at an advanced stage of its production development process”, suggesting that it too will be unveiled in 2022.
Finally, the first 100% M electrified BMW will be launched next year ; it should be the SUV XM a concept of which was recently announced with a teaser image.
BMW plans to celebrate 50 years of M at various prestigious automotive events throughout 2022, such as the Concours d’Elegance at Villa d’Este (Italy) in May, the 24 Hours of Nürburgring the same month, the Goodwood Festival Of Speed (UK) in June, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (USA) in August. Some of the new vehicles may be unveiled at these locations.
