L’mythical baccalaureate test is back! The candidates worked this Wednesday morning on their subject of philosophy. Admittedly, discipline is no longer the first thing high school students face: it is even their last written test, since they have all already worked on their specialties during May.

The fact remains that the philosophy test is a necessary passage to higher education and, symbolically, to adulthood. As such, it remains eminently distressing.

Here are the topics

Subject 1 : Do artistic practices transform the world?

Subject 2 : Is it up to the State to decide what is fair?

Subject 3: Explain the following text: “For an observation to be qualified as scientific, it must be capable of being made and repeated under circumstances which bear an exact definition, so that each time the same circumstances are repeated can always observe the identity of the results, at least within the limits of the error which inevitably affects our empirical determinations. It is necessary, moreover, that, in the circumstances defined, and between the limits of error which have just been indicated, the results are independent of the constitution of the observer; or that, if there are exceptions, they are due to an anomaly of constitution, which manifestly renders such an individual unfit for such a kind of observation, without shaking our confidence in the constancy and in the intrinsic truth of the observed fact. The philosophy test is above all symbolic and is not a real open door to post-baccalaureate studies. This year, the test counts towards obtaining the diploma, representing a coefficient of 8 for general baccalaureate candidates (out of a total of 100) and 4 for technological baccalaureate candidates. From now on, the mark of the baccalaureate is based 40% on continuous assessment and 60% on final tests (French, oral and written, in anticipated tests in first, then philosophy, specialties and the great oral in final).

On the program for this philosophical morning: three topics to choose from (two dissertations and a text commentary). And this is the first time that the philosophy test will count towards obtaining the baccalaureate in its new version: indeed, last year, the health context had led the ministry to decide that the best mark obtained (either in continuous assessment, or at the final examination) would be retained, if the candidate had taken the test.

After this written test, future graduates will only have to work on their big oral, which will take place between June 20 and July 5.
