On the occasion of the European Week of Sport which takes place each year from September 23 to 30, the AUF-Central and Eastern Europe is launching a first French-speaking regional campaign to support healthy sport at university.
Launched by the European Commission, the European Week of Sport aims to promote sport and physical activity among citizens and to make them aware of their many benefits. It is aimed at everyone, whatever their age, origin or physical condition. It brings together individuals, public authorities, the sports movement, civil society organizations and the private sector.
As part of the regional project “Active Youth – Students in Action”, the AUF proposes to support events that promote the practice of sport for all, more particularly sporting initiatives/events for French-speaking students/teachers. AUF member universities in ECO.
These events will contribute to the animation, the attractiveness and the influence of the university Francophonie, while ensuring the promotion of the practice of sport. They are supposed to encourage young people, who do not wish to compete, to participate in a sporting event for fun, to move or to practice a supervised physical activity without constraint.
It’s a fun way to discover new sports, adopt a healthier lifestyle and have fun! Whatever the age, origin or physical form, sport is for everyone! Let’s be active!
The events supported under this call for expressions of interest will be organized in the period from September 23 to October 7, 2022.
The expressions of interest presented must mainly:
- Promote the educational and social value of sport.
- Promote and animate the community life of French-speaking students.
- Promote events at local, national and regional level in favor of healthy sport in educational settings, in the workplace and in associations.
Each establishment having its own sports traditions and structures, it will be able to fully involve local, national or regional players in the organization of the respective sporting events.
Nature of AUF support:
AUF support mainly covers:
- Logistics activities
- Communication/promotional activities
- Promotional material
- Price
- Food and drink (water, snacks)
Within the limit of the available budget, the AUF subsidy granted for an event can go up to a maximum of 1,000 euros.
Eligibility:
- Type of event: sporting events (individual or collective sporting competitions), sporting Master Classes (guests from the sporting world, a demonstration match, etc.), etc.
- Establishment: Project leaders must imperatively be a member of the AUF or work within a member establishment of the AUF in ECO (association).
- Are excluded from the device: individual aid.
- the estimated budget of the event, the involvement of other universities and communities.
- Projects should be conducted in cooperation and/or collaboration between partners academic, and/or sports and/or socio-economic. The expression of interest submitted may group together at least 2 AUF member establishments (students and/or teachers) from the same city or a member establishment and another partner (in the absence of other AUF member establishments in the same city) .
- The supporting/beneficiary member establishments undertake to comply with all the necessary/compulsory conditions for the setting up of this type of event.

European Week of Sport is an initiative of the European Commission to promote sport and physical activity across Europe under the motto “#BeActive”. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of an active lifestyle for everyone and to offer citizens a springboard to an active life.
