Since 2015, the City of Lille has set up financial aid for obtaining a sports license for children aged 2 to 11. This action allows them to take their first steps in a sports association.

The City of Lille has a proactive sports policy which aims to guarantee the right to sport from an early age and reduce inequalities in the taking of sports licenses. This is why, considering that the cost of club membership should not be a hindrance to sports practice for families, the City decided in 2015 to set up a support system for taking sports license.
This aid, distributed in the form of coupons, is intended for families in Lille, Lomme and Hellemoise with children aged 2 to 11 years. Applied to the total amount of the registration (federal license and contribution to the association), the amount of the aid is calculated according to the family quotient (for example, a family with a family quotient of category 1 to 4, benefits with a grant of €80).
Since its creation, the system has enjoyed growing success (632 coupons distributed in the first year and 2,582 for the 2019-2020 season). For the 2021-2022 season, the system has 76 associative partners representing 28 sports disciplines. Support for the sports license can also be supplemented by the Pass’Sport issued by the State, for children and young people aged between 6 and 18 who do not meet the age criteria of the City system.
In addition, as part of its youth strategy, the City of Lille plans to extend the support system for the sports license to young people aged 12 and over.
The Municipal Council has voted to renew the system for the 2022-2023 sports season.
